This technique involves the insertion of a needle, under some sedation whenever appropriate, to a target area.

This target area may be

• The spinal cord

• The epidural space

• A group of nerves

• An isolated nerve

Local anaesthetic will be injected via the needle; Its intended effect is to render the respective limb movement free and provide analgesia for a duration post surgery.

This technique may also be utilised as a part of a general anaesthetic to augment the analgesic plan for you.
